Udyam Registration — The Official Route to MSME Status.

Udyam is the government's current online system for MSME registration — self-declared, Aadhaar-authenticated, and validated against PAN and GST data. We handle the filing correctly the first time.

Udyam Registration is the Ministry of MSME's online system for registering micro, small and medium enterprises, replacing the earlier Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum system. Registration is free, based on self-declaration, and requires no documents to be uploaded — but the figures declared (investment in plant & machinery/equipment and turnover) are validated in the background against PAN-linked Income Tax and GST records, which means inconsistent or incorrect self-declaration can cause classification mismatches later.

The process is Aadhaar-authenticated — the proprietor's Aadhaar for a proprietorship, the managing partner's for a partnership, or the karta's for a Hindu Undivided Family, with PAN and GSTIN linked at the entity level. Enterprises without GST registration (where not mandatory) can still register on Udyam using PAN alone, provided the exemption applies.

We prepare accurate investment and turnover figures from your financial and GST records before filing, so the Udyam certificate issued reflects the correct MSME category on the first attempt, and we track the periodic re-validation that determines whether the enterprise moves categories as it grows.

2

Aadhaar Authentication

The registration is initiated using the Aadhaar of the proprietor, managing partner, or authorised signatory as applicable.

3

PAN & GSTIN Linking

Entity PAN and GSTIN (where applicable) are linked to pull validated turnover data automatically.

4

NIC Code Selection

Correct National Industrial Classification codes are selected to accurately reflect the enterprise's business activities.

5

The Udyam Registration Certificate is issued with a unique Udyam number and shared along with the confirmed classification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Udyam is the current government portal through which MSME registration is obtained, having replaced the older Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum system in 2020. 'MSME registration' commonly refers to this Udyam process.
None need to be uploaded — Udyam is a self-declaration system authenticated via Aadhaar OTP, with turnover and investment figures validated in the background against PAN-linked Income Tax and GST data rather than through document submission.
Yes, if the business is exempt from mandatory GST registration under the GST Act, it can still register on Udyam using PAN alone. If GST registration is mandatory for the business, the GSTIN must be linked.
UAM registrations issued before Udyam's launch needed to be migrated to Udyam by re-registering on the Udyam portal; UAM numbers are no longer treated as valid MSME registration on their own.
No — Udyam registration is linked to PAN, and only one Udyam registration is permitted per PAN, though multiple business activities and units under that PAN can be included within the single registration.
There's no fixed filing frequency, but since classification is based on turnover and investment that change year to year, it's worth reviewing annually alongside your ITR filing to confirm the enterprise is still correctly classified and hasn't crossed into the next MSME category.
