ICEGATE Registration — Your Gateway to Electronic Customs Filing.

ICEGATE is the Indian customs department's electronic filing portal — required for importers, exporters, and customs brokers to file shipping bills and bills of entry directly. We handle registration and setup.

Contact Us

ICEGATE (Indian Customs Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange Gateway) is the CBIC's portal through which importers, exporters, and customs brokers electronically file bills of entry, shipping bills, and other customs documents, and track clearance status in real time. Registration on ICEGATE is what allows an entity to file these documents directly rather than routing every transaction through a customs broker, and is also required to access services like e-Sanchit (electronic document upload) and IGST refund status tracking.

Registration requires a valid Import Export Code (IEC), a registered digital signature certificate for authentication, and bank account details for duty payment and refund processing. Once registered, the entity can file customs documents, respond to queries raised by customs officers electronically, and track shipment clearance status without intermediary delay.

We handle the registration process including DSC registration with ICEGATE, IEC linkage, and bank account mapping, and advise on which additional ICEGATE services (like AD Code registration for duty drawback) the business should also complete depending on its import/export profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's not legally mandatory for every transaction since a customs broker can file on your behalf, but ICEGATE registration is necessary if you want to file bills of entry or shipping bills directly, access e-Sanchit, or track IGST refund status without going through an intermediary.
A valid Import Export Code (IEC), PAN, a registered Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate, and bank account/AD Code details for duty payment and refund processing.
An AD (Authorised Dealer) Code is issued by the bank handling your foreign exchange transactions. Registering it against your IEC on ICEGATE at each port of operation is required to receive duty drawback and export incentive amounts directly into your account.
e-Sanchit is ICEGATE's electronic document upload facility that allows supporting trade documents (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, licenses) to be submitted digitally alongside a bill of entry or shipping bill, eliminating physical document submission at customs.
Customs brokers hold their own ICEGATE registration under their broker license and can file on behalf of authorised clients, but the importer/exporter's own IEC-based registration is still needed if they want direct filing access or IGST refund tracking independently.
The ICEGATE account itself doesn't expire in the way a license does, but the linked DSC has a validity period (typically 1-3 years) and must be renewed and re-registered on ICEGATE before it lapses to avoid filing disruption.
