MSME Registration — Unlock Credit, Subsidy & Protection.

MSME status opens access to priority-sector lending, delayed-payment protection, subsidies and tender reservations. Registration is done through the Udyam portal — we handle classification and filing.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are classified under the MSMED Act based on investment in plant & machinery/equipment and annual turnover. As of the current criteria, micro enterprises have investment up to ₹1 crore and turnover up to ₹5 crore; small enterprises up to ₹10 crore investment and ₹50 crore turnover; medium enterprises up to ₹50 crore investment and ₹250 crore turnover. Both manufacturing and service businesses are covered under a unified classification.

MSME status — obtained by registering on the Udyam portal — is what makes an enterprise eligible for priority-sector lending from banks, collateral-free loans under CGTMSE, interest rate subventions, delayed-payment protection under Section 15 of the MSMED Act (which entitles MSMEs to compound interest on payments delayed beyond 45 days), and reservation in government tenders.

We assess correct classification based on investment and turnover figures (drawn from Income Tax Returns and GST returns, since Udyam self-declaration is auto-validated against these), file the Udyam registration, and advise on the annual re-classification that happens automatically as turnover and investment figures change.

Frequently Asked Questions

MSME is the classification (micro, small, medium) under the MSMED Act; Udyam is the current online registration portal through which that classification is obtained. 'MSME registration' and 'Udyam registration' refer to the same process today — the earlier Udyog Aadhaar system has been replaced by Udyam.
Micro: investment up to ₹1 crore and turnover up to ₹5 crore. Small: investment up to ₹10 crore and turnover up to ₹50 crore. Medium: investment up to ₹50 crore and turnover up to ₹250 crore. Both criteria (investment and turnover) must be satisfied, and classification uses the higher of the two.
Yes. Udyam registration requires PAN and pulls investment and turnover figures from linked Income Tax and GST records for validation, which is why figures declared at registration must be consistent with what's filed in ITR and GST returns.
Under Section 15 of the MSMED Act, a registered MSME supplier is entitled to receive payment within 45 days of acceptance of goods/services, and can claim compound interest at three times the RBI bank rate on delayed amounts if this isn't honoured.
Both manufacturing and service enterprises are covered under the unified MSME classification introduced in 2020 — the same investment and turnover thresholds apply regardless of whether the business manufactures goods or provides services.
Yes. Classification is reviewed based on updated turnover and investment data linked to PAN/GST, and an enterprise moves to a higher category once it exceeds the current category's threshold, subject to the transition period rules under the MSME classification notification.
