SPICe+ Part A is the name reservation stage of the MCA's integrated company incorporation process. Before a new company can be incorporated via SPICe+ Part B, the proposed company name must be reserved on MCA — checked against all existing company names, LLP names, and trademark registrations to ensure it is unique, compliant with MCA's naming guidelines, and available for use. Part A allows the applicant to propose up to two names (primary and alternative) so that if the first is rejected, the alternative can be considered without re-filing.

MCA's name approval process applies strict guidelines: the name must not be identical or confusingly similar to an existing company or LLP name, must not suggest government patronage, must not contain prohibited words, and must reflect the company's principal business activity. Names that are too generic, too close to existing registered trademarks, or in violation of the Companies (Incorporation) Rules are rejected. A name reservation through SPICe+ Part A is valid for 20 days from the date of approval, within which SPICe+ Part B must be filed to proceed with incorporation.
